Inspired by a desire to present medieval music, both sacred and secular, Vocem Resurgentis was formed in 2013 by soprano Linda Falvy, who was joined by founding members soprano Mary Enid Haines, and contralto Catherine McCormack. The three voices coming together are unique and diverse but unified by their deep appreciation for the power of the human voice.

We continue our exploration of the medieval pilgrim through music of the Codex Calixtinus, Codex Las Huelgas, Llibre Vermell and Cantigas de Santa Maria.  The Medieval mind set was highly mystical, rooted in ritual, faith and devotion. The highly refined liturgical music of the Codex Calixtinus and Codex Las Huelgas includes one of the earliest known three part polyphonic pieces and illustrates the early development of polyphony. In contrast the songs from the Llibre Vermell and Cantigas de Santa Maria are seemingly playful yet strongly reflect faith and devotion as well as an unwavering belief in the power of miracles.

The Church of St. Mary Magdalene is located at the corner of Manning Avenue and Ulster Street: four blocks west of Bathurst, between College and Harbord. Closest subways are Christie and Bathurst. It is fully wheelchair accessible.
